Further Information:
This ground beetle releases foul smell (similar to animal dung) when threatened. The exoskeleton is a metallic bronze colour with violet and pink reflections, possibly serving as a warning to potential predators indicating that the beetle is not palatable. This beetle hides under rocks and logs, emerging to hunt soft-bodied invertebrates such as earthworms and caterpillars.
